hiccups

Apologies for the downtime–been having some server issues lately. I’m redirecting to a new server until the DNS is complete. All should be back to normal soon.

dusting off the blog

So, I’ve been busy the last several months, putting together my first commercial Android app, checking in every few weeks to collect the spam and make sure no one’s broken in and so on. Learning a new operating system is always an intense experience, and moving from a desktop mentality to a mobile frame of mind has made it doubly so. But the app is complete, and while I can’t promise I’m going to jump right back into JavaScript and WebGL and odd games about literate gasbags, I do intend to increase the frequency of the posting. It’s been entirely too quiet around here.

where are the games?

UPDATE II: this might be related to the recent WebGL issues on OS X, which have already been fixed. Stuff seems to work fine under Windows. I’m running Linux, so no help there.

UPDATE: looks like I’m not the only one having trouble. Seems to be related to a recent update–even Chrome Experiments won’t run. Stay tuned.

Just noticed that none of the live demos or games are working. They were a few days ago, so I’m assuming there’s been a change to the WebGL implementation. The error occurs in the vertex shader compilation pass and is present in both Firefox and Chrome. Working on it now.

service resumed, for now

Everything seems to be in order. I have to say that WordPress is looking pretty good these days. I dumped it a few years back in favor of Habari, a lightweight alternative that sadly isn’t seeing much action anymore. Though I wish I wasn’t locked into a MySQL back-end (higher cost for me), I appreciated how quickly I was able to get back up with WordPress. Thanks, folks!

Ironically, I’m going dark tomorrow for the SOPA/PIPA protest. See you on the other side.

technical difficulties

Tumblr seems to have yanked my blog without warning or reason. Thanks, folks. I’m back to self-hosting; probably for good. It’ll be a little hectic around here as I reassemble things.

more things in new places

I’ve spent my Sunday afternoon porting the original Habari blog here to Tumblr. There weren’t many posts, so no biggie. The only thing that took a little thought was the redirect from the old site. This is pretty much how I wanted it all along: a project space that I would manage manually, and a blog space managed by someone else.

EDIT: in light of subsequent events, HA HA HA HA HA HA *choke*

dead blogs, remembered

I’ve had a few blogs. Most died from neglect, though the last one ended because I really felt I’d written all I was going to write. I’m starting a new one mostly because I’ve been playing with WebGL and I want to show off a few creations. I ought to have some sort of home page. Might as well fill it with words.

I’ve written a game called Fissure. It’s available from the sidebar over there.

I’m writing a new game that is tentatively titled Pavo. I’ll post updates on it here, plus anything else I feel like dredging up.
